MCCF Release Destinations

Mifflin County Correctional Facility is a county jail and Central Booking Center. It holds people under court authority, including people awaiting a case outcome and people serving county terms. A release from the building can end physical confinement, but it does not always end the court case or all supervision. Bail can return a person to the community while charges remain pending. A completed county sentence or a court release order can also permit a community exit. Probation may follow, and county parole can continue legal control outside the jail.

Other exits are transfers. A person may move to a Pennsylvania Department of Corrections institution, another county facility, the U.S. Marshals Service, or immigration custody. That person has left MCCF but has not been released to the community. The best record identifies the release type, authorizing court or agency, date and time, and any receiving authority. Confirm an MCCF Release

Mifflin County does not publish a local roster or released-person archive. Its official page titled Inmate Lookup sends readers to the statewide court portal and VINELink. That design makes a one-source answer unreliable. PA SAVIN can report a custody event, while the court docket shows the legal authority. MCCF holds the facility record. These sources should agree on identity and should be read with the exact status words intact.

1. Search VINELink under Pennsylvania for the named person. Note the reporting agency and whether the event says released, moved, or transferred.
2. Open UJS Case Search. Use a docket number or OTN when possible, filter to Mifflin County or the 58th Judicial District, and read bail, sentence, disposition, and later orders.
3. Check the receiving locator if transfer is possible. Use PA DOC for state custody, BOP for a sentenced federal person, or ICE only within its stated scope.
4. Ask MCCF Records for the release or transfer entry when the public sources do not settle the issue. Give a full name, a booking or commitment number if known, and a narrow date range.

VINELink can lag, and a court order is not a gate timestamp. MCCF's family guide says release may wait while staff receive court paperwork and handle facility workload. Match the court authority to the custody event and facility entry instead of treating any single date as the exact physical-exit time.

The MCCF frequently asked questions add another local limit: staff do not release transport information and direct court-date questions to the committing authority. That makes a receiving locator and the court record important when a transfer is suspected. A caller can still ask for the proper status or records channel without seeking restricted movement details. If a state result appears after the person leaves Lewistown, read it as evidence of continued PA DOC custody. If no receiving result appears, do not substitute guesswork. Preserve the MCCF event wording and request the existing release or transfer entry from its custodian.

MCCF Release Records Contact

The facility can identify the correct record route, but a formal Pennsylvania Right-to-Know Law request for a county administrative record goes to the designated county Open Records Officer. A request should seek an existing entry rather than ask staff to investigate a broad question. Describe the booking or commitment record, the release date and time field, the release authority or type, and the destination or receiving agency if held.

The county policy provides an initial response within five business days. The officer may grant access, deny with a legal basis and appeal directions, or invoke a permitted extension of no more than 30 days for stated reasons. No public MCCF retention period for person-level release records was found. Ask whether the requested date range is still held, and do not assume a missing online result means the record no longer exists.

Mifflin Correctional Facility Role

The County of Mifflin operates MCCF. The official county page identifies it as the county correctional facility and Central Booking Center, not as a state prison and not as a sheriff jail division. Warden Jason Kormanic is named by the current county page and directory. The facility books and holds people as courts direct. State, federal, and immigration systems matter only when their authorities take custody or when state supervision follows release.

Published capacity figures should be handled with care. Pennsylvania's 2026 county-prison inspection schedule lists 210 beds for inspection purposes, while a later local description reports a physical capacity of 141. Neither number is a current population or a release total, and the unlike measures should not be blended. December 2025 Prison Board minutes provide a dated snapshot instead: 124 people were held, including county-attributed and U.S. Marshals Service custody. That snapshot shows why jurisdiction must be checked before calling an exit a release.

MCCF Bail Release Process

MCCF publishes useful local bail mechanics. During regular court hours, its family guide encourages the person posting bail to work through the committing court authority. The Mifflin County Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts handles Common Pleas criminal records and bail paperwork at 20 North Wayne Street. Its published bail-posting period is Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Court action begins the process, but the court's posted date or time does not prove that the person already crossed the jail exit.

After hours, MCCF may accept bail by money order when the detaining papers carry a known bail amount. The person posting should bring photo identification. A private bondsman may be used when applicable, but MCCF does not control that business. Facility staff still need the court paperwork and time to complete the release. The guide promises no fixed hour, weekend schedule, or instant exit.

MCCF Release Property Rules

An incarcerated person may authorize property for pickup through a signed property-release form. The form identifies the items and the named recipient. That person must present photo identification, and the name must match the authorization. The family guide also says an incarcerated person cannot release all clothing because clothing must remain available to wear at release. Clothing is not exchanged. These rules concern property handling, not proof that a custody release occurred.

Someone who applied for Mifflin County Public Defender services while jailed has a separate post-release step. The county application page instructs that person to contact the Public Defender immediately after release at 717-914-6590. That direction is specific to the legal-service application and does not substitute for probation reporting, a court condition, or facility confirmation.

MCCF Release or ICE Transfer

Mifflin County addressed immigration transfers in a September 2024 public statement. The county said MCCF reports ICE detainees and that they are promptly picked up. It also cited the need for a judicial order to hold someone beyond the criminal release date. The statement is the county's account of its practice. It does not mean each person leaving MCCF enters ICE custody, nor does it prove community release.

When immigration custody is plausible, read the MCCF release or transfer entry first. Then use the ICE Online Detainee Locator with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or the exact name, date of birth, and country. ICE says the public system includes current detention and releases from ICE custody within the prior 60 days, with important exclusions. A no-result remains inconclusive. “Released by MCCF to ICE” means the county jail stopped holding the person, while federal detention may have begun.
